Bathroom Renovations

How long will the job take?

A typical bathroom can take from 4 to 5 working days.

Can O’Connor Carroll supply tiles?

We have a limited range of tiles which we can provide for our less-abled bathroom customers, but generally customers prefer to supply their own tiles to their own personal taste. O’Connor Carroll will supply good quality adhesives, grouts and trims at a more than competitive price than tile retail shops. The quality of these materials is a very important part of the job in order to achieve a longer lifetime for your new bathroom.

My existing bath/shower area is leaking, can you help?

As standard we tank every bath/shower area. From experience we have found the majority of our customers have problems with the sealing of their existing shower/bath areas. This normally leads to a new bathroom renovation. At O’Connor Carroll we have remedied this common problem with our tried and tested techniques using specific and quality products to remove this  headache for our customers.

How do I choose sanitary ware?

Prior to commencement of the job, one of our representatives will provide you with a brochure of sanitary wear and a walk through of the entire works to make sure you are happy. We at O’Connor Carroll guarantee a quality service - so anything we supply will be to the highest standard to meet your needs.

Less Abled Bathrooms

Do O’Connor Carroll bathrooms carry grant work?

Yes, we have an excellent working relationship with all local Councils and deal with them on a daily basis. We can provide all appropriate paperwork and can help with the filling out of the appropriate forms.

Do I need a deposit?

Yes, on the first working day we require deposit. This is normally the difference between our quotation and the grant amount that you have had passed for by your local council.

How can I reclaim the VAT?

This is a very popular question as sometimes people do not know that you do not have to be registered for VAT to reclaim your entitled VAT back. We can provide you with the relevant from if required.

My Occupational Therapist has some recommendations, will this affect the work?

We have a great deal of experience with Occupational Therapists and we will be only glad to meet and liaise with your OT until your new bathroom meets your personal needs.

Stairlifts

My staircase has turns and can be narrow in places; can O’Connor Carroll recommend a solution?

Yes. O’Connor Carroll supplies the Thyssenkrupp Flow stairlift. Where staircase width is a challenge, the ‘Advanced Ride Monitoring System’ of the powered swivel feature turns the chair and footrest to travel past the narrowest staircase sections. This is an exclusive feature of the Flow and ensures that Flow is flexible on staircases as narrow as 61cm. The Flow can operate where other stairlifts can’t.

I live in cork. Does O’Connor Carroll cover the Munster region? Can I expect reliable backup service?

Yes. O’Connor Carroll Stairlifts provide a full nationwide service for our stairlift department. We have a dedicated team of engineers for installation and maintenance of all our lifts. Our service covers the whole of the Republic of Ireland. So whether you live in Cork, Galway or Donegal or Wexford you will still be treated with the same priority and care.

What happens if my stairlift breaks down?

We guarantee a 24-hour call out service from the time we receive your call. The fault is normally something simple, but on occasion we may need a new part. Fortunately at O’Connor Carroll we carry many parts in stock.  Please note, your new stairlift comes with a full two-year warranty service with parts and labour.  After this two-year period we can arrange a maintenance contract.

How long does it take to fit a stairlift?

A straight stairlift normally takes between 2-3 hours, whereas a curved stairlift may take up to 4-5 hours. This will depend on accessible power outlets and the amount of curves on the stairs.

Finally...

Why choose O’Connor Carroll?

We excel in quality and professionalism whether it's from laying out dustsheets to keep your home as tidy as possible, to removal of rubbish when the works are complete. We, unlike many other firms, do not contract other tradesmen during the works. All the various trades - from tiling to electrical works - are done in-house within O’Connor Carroll. This is why we know our bathrooms will not be beaten in quality.
